It was confirmed that a total of 16 people working at Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s Kagoshima Technology Center (5-1, Kokubunoguchi Kita, Kirishima-shi, Kagoshima), have tested positive for COVID-19.
Having shown symptoms of illness, the employees underwent medical examinations and received PCR tests on March 13. On the same day, all 16 employees tested positive and are currently receiving medical treatment at home. We identified the close contacts as defined by our company regulations within the site, and they are self-isolating at home for 10 days from the contact date. We will continue follow up observations.
Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing has been taking measures to prevent the spread of the virus, such as promotion of flexible work (working from home). We will continue to carry out our business operations focusing primarily on ensuring the safety of our employees, customers and partners, in addition to preventing the further spread of the virus both inside and outside the company.
