One temporary staff working for Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s Shiroishi-Zao Technology Center (3-53-2, Shiratori, Shiroishi-shi, Miyagi) was confirmed to be infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Since the staff showed symptoms of a fever on May 7, the staff had a PCR test on May 10 and tested positive on May 11. The staff has received medical treatment at home now. We identified the close contacts within the site and had them to stand by at home for 10 days from the contact date. We will continue to follow up observation. Since necessary disinfection cleaning at the premises was completed, there is no impact on operations of our production lines.

Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing has been taking measures to prevent further spread such as promotion of flexible work (working from home). We will carry out business operations primarily focused on ensuring the safety of its employees, its customers and partners in addition to preventing the further spread of the virus both inside and outside the company.
