Announcement of Novel Coronavirus Infected Person Outbreak

Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation

An employee of a partner company working for Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s Nagasaki Technology Center (1883-43, Tsukuba-machi, Isahaya-shi, Nagasaki) was confirmed to be infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Since the employee didn’t feel well on the night of January 18, the employee had a medical examination at the hospital and a PCR test on January 21. On the same day, the employee tested positive and has currently received medical treatment at home. We identified the close contacts within the site and had them to stand by at home for 10 days from the contact date. We will continue to follow up observation. Since necessary disinfection cleaning at the premises was completed, there is no impact on operations of our production lines.

Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing has been taking measures to prevent further spread such as promotion of flexible work (working from home). We will carry out business operations primarily focused on ensuring the safety of its employees, its customers and partners in addition to preventing the further spread of the virus both inside and outside the company.
