Sony Receives the Corporate Award from the MIPI Alliance Membership Awards Program

Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation

Tokyo, Japan — Sony Corporation announced today that it has received the 2018 Corporate Award from the MIPI Alliance Membership Awards Program, sponsored by the MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries. The award ceremony was held in Montreal, Canada on March 27 (local time), and Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation, a major contributor to the efforts recognized by the award, received the award on behalf of Sony Corporation.

The MIPI Alliance Membership Awards Program is a program that annually honors individual and corporate members for their outstanding contributions and achievements in MIPI Alliance activities. The Corporate Award that Sony won is presented to a member company that demonstrates outstanding corporate leadership.

This award recognizes Sony's contribution to the development of inter-chip communication standards such as I3C*1, C-PHY*2, and CSI-2*3, as well as Sony's role as the AWG*4 chair in establishing ARD*5 and taking the lead in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing for automotive coaxial cables, which was the first for a standardization organization.

The above standards developed by the MIPI Alliance with Sony taking the lead have been adopted as global standards in many image sensors and display devices. They are used in a wide range of applications such as smartphones and other consumer products, industrial devices, and automobiles.

Going forward, Sony remains committed to playing an active role in the MIPI Alliance and contributing to the mobile device market and the automotive market, which are expected to grow with the advent of self-driving vehicles.
