An employee of Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation‘s Kumamoto Technology Center (4000-1, Haramizu, Kikuyomachi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto) was found to be infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) in the evening of August 3, 2020.

The employee showed the symptom of fever after returning home on July 31 and got a medical treatment at home till August 3. For now, the employee is in the hospital. We identified the employees who were suspected to be close contacts and had them to stand by at home for 14 days from the contact date. We will continue to follow up observation. Since necessary disinfections at the premises was completed, there is no impact on our operations.

Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing has been taking measures to prevent further spread such as prohibition of all domestic and overseas business trips or promotion of flexible work (working from home). We will carry out business operations primarily focused on ensuring the safety of its employees, its customers and partners in addition to preventing the further spread of the virus.
